Are projectors going tiny?

pico-projector-young-optics

Projectors have seen enormous growth over the last ten years as a result of cinema lovers as well as the need for business projectors. As projectors have evolved from huge devices to smaller ones (mostly the business ones), and as everything electric or electronic is being ‘tinyfied’, it now looks like your cell phone will soon sport a projector added to the huge list of features.

An interesting point is, of course, quality. Will these super tiny projectors be any good besides to show a presentation? Will it be possible one day to watch a movie in decent quality using your mobile as a projector? And what about battery life?

We’d love to hear what you think via the comments.

InFocus slashes prices of HD Ready projectors

Infocus

A remarkable announcement, found at http://www.homecinemachoice.com .

” Acclaimed projector brand InFocus has announced that it’s knocking hundreds of pounds off its already impressive-value IN78 and IN76 HD Ready projectors. The Dark Chip 3 IN78 is now £1500 (down from £2,000), while the Dark Chip 2 IN76 is now just £999 (down from £1400). Which makes them both bargains of quite ridiculous proportions, in our humble opinion.”

Of course this is great news for all the customers out there, but I can’t help to remember the following quote

” For the second quarter 2007, InFocus reported revenues of $73.6 million and a net loss of $7.8 million, or $0.20 per share, compared to a net loss of $13.0 million, or $0.33 per share, for the first quarter of 2007 and a net loss of $12.8 million, or $0.32 per share for the second quarter of 2006″.

Let’s us hope for Infocus that they will be able to stop the losses.
