The DreamBee Theatre System

dreambee

It has been a while since I have posted an article about Cinemascope / Widescreen. But the all-in-one solution from DreamVision, their ” Theatre System”, is worth to be mentioned. It is an expensive system for the uncompromising cinephiles who want to watch Cinemascope® movies on a real 2.35:1 screen. With the use of this system you don’t have black bars anymore and also no loss of brightness and ” un-used pixels”. The system makes use of the well-known Full-HD DreamBee projector, the optimized Dreamscaler 3 external video-processor/hub and a bracket pre-equipped with a motorization and an optically first-class anamorphic lens.

Panasonic PT-AX200

Panasonic PT-AX200

As an owner of the Panasonic PT-AX100 , although not being an full-HD projector, I appreciate the vertical stretch mode and it’s high 2000 Lumen output which makes this projector an ideal partner to combine with an anamorphic lens.

Now the specs of the successor, the PT-AX200, are revealed.

From the outside it’s looks identical to the PT-AX-100. This year, Panasonic has included a game mode to broaden this projector’s appeal to those who like to like to game in large screen proportions. Game mode improves signal processing for faster controller/screen response, and it also enhances gradation in saturated or dark scenes to show greater detail.

The other improvement is the Light Harmoniser II, which senses a room’s light levels and automatically adjusts the image to maximize the brightness and sharpness levels. This is especially important when you want to use this projector in less-than-optimally dark rooms.

The PT-AX200 might be considered more evolutionary than revolutionary, with this year’s enhancements building on a good product. It’s seems to me that PT-AX100 owners do no need to upgrade.

Optoma HD81LV

The Optoma HD81-LV Home Theater Projector comes with an optional motorized anamorphic lens for full Cinemascope aspect ratio. Although the primary pitch for the HD81-LV is for dedicated home theaters, the HD81-LV also has to be about the best candidate around, for those trying to put a home theater projector in a family room type environment that can’t be fully darkened.

Unfortunately nothing’s good come cheap but at streeprices of 7000 us dollar, this is at the moment one of the best projectors money can buy. For all the specs see the internet.
