The iPhone 3G hysteria

Jul 16th, 2008 | By dutchclick | Category: Dutch Info Network, Tech Interest

Only a few days after the serious iPhone 3G hysteria started there are some patterns to see in how Apple and the local gsm providers deal with things concerning the new Apple fanboy toy. Next to that there are some technical issues. In total:
distribution -> soup kitchen style, people in line to get a glimpse [...]

Jun 10th, 2008 | By dutchclick | Category: Dutch Info Network, GPS Passion, navigation, software

After in fact stopping support for PDA’s and smartphones it is very likely that TomTom will bring a iPhone version of its navigation software to sell to customers, Reuters tells us. The Dutch navigation device maker is not yet telling when it comes to the market, but it is expected that it will be on [...]

WWDC: Next Gen iPhone to come

Jun 9th, 2008 | By dutchclick | Category: Dutch Info Network, GPS Passion

Dutch local time (19.00h) DIN will be online and watching different sources to stay up-to-date about the new Apple iPhone. We hear stories about people still buying the ‘old’ one (if available), not knowing there is a new version coming very very soon.
This is the first time we are really on to it. You know why? Because [...]

Quest for GPS software for Mac - part 1

May 1st, 2008 | By dutchclick | Category: software

Switching from one computer to another isn’t always easy. But finally switching platform from Windows to Mac OS, well, that’s a - well thought through - revolution!
The search for holy grail software is not over, but there is one flaw in the ocean of Mac software: gps and/or geocaching related software. I don’t say [...]

Some specs:

the back will not be [...]

Mar 2nd, 2008 | By dutchclick | Category: navigation

It isn’t Apple itself that comes with an unique tablet computer running Mac OS X Leopard. Axiotron brings us the Modbook, a pen-based computer for the price of about $ 2290, not even that bad.
The nice thing is that the specs say the following:

Built-in GPS Module
Perfect for geotagging, navigating and mapping.

and [...]

TomTom TeleAtlas deal has to wait

Feb 25th, 2008 | By dutchclick | Category: Dutch Info Network

The TomTom TeleAtlas merger that was announced last year is getting some objections by the European Commission. It is not a full brake, but a soft brake, so here are some issues that TomTom can solve until May 5th, it is said. I am curious what they are supposed to deal with to get an [...]

The unboxing of the Qstarz BT-Q1000P

Feb 23rd, 2008 | By dutchclick | Category: GPS Passion

I have been ordering one of the first Qstarz BT-Q1000P GPS data logger on the planet, I am quite sure. I took it out of the box with a pointed camcorder.

Just take a look: The press release with a twist was HERE

QStarz to market with new BT-Q1000P geo logger

Feb 19th, 2008 | By dutchclick | Category: Dutch Info Network

The BT-Q1000P is the newest brainchild of gps-builder Qstarz.
This upgraded new (P)latinum version is an improved version of the BT-1000 (see our own hands-on GPS Passion review HERE), that is not even that old.
What are the differences?
In fact there are only two differences, but one of it seems to be extra nice. Next to more [...]
