Google’s Virtual world is called Lively
By servaas | July 9th, 2008 | Category: Dutch Info Network, Tech Interest |One of Google’s rules for employees is that they are allowed (or even supposed??) to spend 20% of their working time on hobby projects. The fruit of these projects is Lively. Lively is a virtual world, where you can walk around with your avatar. Where have we heard this before? Yes: Second Life. And what did we say about that again? Oh yeah “Get a First life, moron”. And that’s what I would like to say about Lively as well.
Why would you spend time walking around in a vritual world? Okay, I can see this as a game, but it isn’t. Neither is Second Life. And than again, there are people that are seriously addicited to walking around in a non existing world….
This is the first product Google has released that means nothing to me. Or said differently, I find it crap and a waste of time. Make it a game and I’ll understand. Until then, go away.
Oh, and by the way, you can only use it if you run windows. Like I always say, if you release a product, wait until you can release it for all platforms. This is, errr, a bit amateuristic, no?
Lively is here, if you want to know more.
