Zoho features Google Docs import and more
By servaas | May 28th, 2008 | Category: Dutch Info Network, Tech Interest |Zoho is working hard and implementing different features all the time. After having implemented Google Account login to Zoho’s applications, this time Zoho implements importing of Google docs into Zoho Writer.
The import is done by exporting your docs from Google Docs in zipped HTML format to your computer. From the Zoho Writer interface you can import the zipped docs by choosing import and selecting “Import from Google”. The imported documents show up in the document browser on your left in the Zoho Writer screen.
Another new feature is the Equation Editor. It is not for me, but I know certain people will be very happy with it, and Zoho says it is upon the request of students:
You’ll see a new Equation Editor icon (last one in the second row of the toolbar) which brings up a simple UI to create your equations. If you are a LaTeX guru, type your equation away and we automatically generate an image of the equation on the right. If you are not a LaTeX expert (like me), you can simply select the equation symbols with your mouse and we automatically build the equation for you. Once done, the equation image is inserted into your document.
All in all, very exciting news. If you want to move away from Google Docs and go with Zoho, now you can bring your docs. I think the next step should be sharing and collaboration between Zoho and Google, but that might never happen.
