Samsung used the LA-based Society for Information Display (SID) international symposium to debut an 82in LCD TV with Ultra Definition resolution.
The so-called UD panel features a pixel resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 (aka 4K2K), which is about 6,000,000 more pixels than a Full HD screen, and refreshes at a rate of 120Hz. RGB LED backlights are employed to increase the colour saturation of the TV.
“This 82-inch LCD is large enough to cover all viewing angles with ultra-definition resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate that will allow viewers to watch motion pictures as if they are really in them. It is the optimal display for future TVs,” said Samsung bigwig Sang Soo Kim.
No pics as yet, nor any word on a European version or possible introduction to the consumer market. Still, it’s becoming clearer that Full HD is definitely not as ‘Full’ as it used to be.
