Motorola divides itself in two
By servaas | March 26th, 2008 | Category: Dutch Info Network |The continuing problems in the mobile division of Motorola, not understood by me as the whole planed walks around with a razr, have led to an interesting decision: Moto will be split in half. Company one will be Mobile Devices, while the other will be Broadband and Mobility. Well, those will not be the actual names, but merely describe what the two companies will focus on.
After the succesfull razr phone Moto failed to launch successors to the flagship, causing the mobile division to loose money. The stockholders, fronted by Carl Icahn. As Moto is still successful in other areas, the stock holders believe the split up will save the company by focussing on what it’s good at.
